Hello Bloggers,
Wishing you all hello, all the way from Karachi :)  Today I am going to review  Short Story " I Still Remember" by Priya Prithviraj  which is a gloomy  story about unrequited love. Priya Prithviraj writes poems which have been featured in journals such as Eastlit and at the Stewartry Book Festival. She also writes about books, writing and publishing on her blog.

True love never dies, it always remain there deep inside the lover's heart, it may change its form but it always remains you cannot be indifferent to a person you once loved, this is the whole idea of the story I Still Remember. Ji woo tried her level best to forget Weon-gyu but she could not kill her feelings completely nor she could erase all those sweet memories out of her mind although she did tried to discard all her feelings and attachment towards Weon-gyu but she failed. She remember everything every details even when she don't want to and she only hope that Weon-gyu know that she still remember everything. Ji woo 's feelings towards Weon-gyu has changed but they were not of indifference she still cares, still remembers everything and want Weon-gyun to know that she still remembers everything.

Her poem itself is the true depiction of her heart and her feelings towards Weon gyu although she pretends that Weon gyu does not mean anything to her anymore and she discarded all the things from her life which were attached with  his memories or the gifts he has give her but she failed to discard her love and her feelings towards him. The love which was not materialized, not requited. Weon gyu maybe not loved her at all or his feelings towards her not at the same frequency as hers.

"There is nothing so mortifying as to fall in love with someone who does not share one's sentiments.”
Georgette Heyer, Venetia

If he genuinely loved her, listening to the poem should have sadden him and he should have regretted over his past doings but instead of it he was smiling. That smile made Ji woo realized that she was never loved. It was just her fancy and he was just being nice and friendly to her nothing more. The moment she saw his smile her bubble of fancy burst and she landed into the world of reality.

“Unrequited love is a ridiculous state, and it makes those in it behave ridiculously.”
― Cassandra Clare

Before reciting the poem Ji woo had some hopes but Wyun gyu 's smile has crushed all such hopes and made her realized that he does not have same feelings for her. She was broken but soon she overcome this feeling and have accepted this reality bravely. She burnt the last thing she had of him his photo but she was content and happy. She will never want to see him again but she still remember everything, this line speaks volumes and restate the idea that true love never dies, it may change its form and you can't be indifferent to a person you once loved.

"True love stories never have endings"  Richard Bach

Priya Prithviraj has very artfully and subtlety worked on this theme and created this beautiful love  story which apparently looks gloomy but its an inspirational story of a brave girl who bravely encounters her strong feelings towards his love Weon gyu and how she reacted bravely when she realized that her love has not been returned. She just discarded away all those belongings who reminded her of him but she can't discard her feelings she still remember everything but she confidently and happily accepted and faced the reality. However, her feelings towards him changed in disgust she doesn't want to meet him again in life.

Wishing you all happy readings and happy Blogging :)
