Our Story Ends Here

Our Story Ends Here

Marking New Beginnings ....

Book Review

A Novel by Sara Naveed

I remember when Sara declared her second novel's title " Our Story Ends Here" on Twitter, I just commented on it " No it has just begun" and I was right this novel seems a marking of new beginnings for the writer as it is one of her best work published. Our Story Ends Here is Sara Naveed's Second Novel on Romance genre and she has shown immense improvement in all areas be it plot, characters or ending, her writing is getting matured. The novel was published by an International Publishing Company The Penguin India Wow!

Coming Back to the novel, the appealing narration technique is the first merit of the novel, the first person technique from both the characters Mehar and Sarmad allows the readers to peek right into the minds and hearts of those characters. We developed empathy towards them. Both characters seems real and believable except in few places the hero particularly as a child seems too sweet and lovey dovey to be believed. The Novel is set in the beautiful valley of Swat then there are beautiful imagery of Badshahi Mosque and Wazir Khan Mosque making me miss Lahore even more :(

The plot of the novel was amazing and not for a single time I find it boring. The theme of love  and Romance is perfectly executed through out the novel. It is referring of Old Hindi romantic songs, or making cute paper origami, the novel is full of such cute and sweet scenes. My most favorite one was from the last scene where Sarmad was asking Mehar will you be great mothe ? will teach your kids how to make crane origamies awww that was so cute.

The theme of terrorism is too wisely tackled  and Sara has depicted a true picture, yes  its true every terrorist has a story. The ending of the novel is too perfect well the question arises can we call it a Tragedy or not? I am confused because a Union is shown in the end, the triumph of Love where souls meet forever, however but they both died. Well a bomb defuse squad could have save them.😢 However they have found their eternal love. This is an excellent novel by Sara Naveed, beautifully written and expressed. Keep writing and inspiring us Sara its just the beginning ! love u💕

Fairy Tale

Fairy Tale

#FairyTaleTheNovel - Blog tour  hosted by Writely Yours

Guest Post

FairyTale

by Hope Pennigton

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

 Hello Bloggers,

The novel for the Blog Tour is  Fairy tale by Hope Pennington  which is a Young adult Fantasy novel based on the life of a teenager boy and his adventures and how the fairy tale of his life turning him into a new leaf. His perception towards life changes. He believes that epic fairy tale is the only solution of salvation of the world from devastation.

Hope Pennington is a home schooled graduate living in Kerrville Texas, author of the young adult novel Fairy tale and creator of The Epic Place YouTube channel where she encourages geeks, nerds and fan girls to always remember that #WeAreEpicHeroes every single day of our lives. She is of the view that all new Young adult novels are cheesy, cliche and  are dishonest. By Dishonest what she actually meant is a question? She clears that by saying that even in an exotic world of spaceships or dragons if we create two dimensional characters  having no soul and no voice of them we are being dishonest.

Pennington doesn't seem much fan of flat characters which she says that almost all New York Time Bestsellers YA Fantasy novels are filled with cliche plot twists and flat characters. That is why she attempted to write a Young Adult Fantasy, a Fairy tale which is not based on cliche plot setting and whose protagonist is a round character who a lazy good for nothing teenager turns into a determinant fellow who is aimed to solve world's problem by doing charity. The carefree  boy turned into a sensible caring person who try to help her sister out with the stack of books and who also offered her mother money to buy new plates as consolation since her new set of plates got smashed.

“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” Albert Einstein

The choice of Fantasy and particularly fairy tale  genre that too with a contemporary touch not the same cliche plot and ending, the writer seems to attempt to write a story that does not  create boredom  for the readers, According to her one of the reason of bored stories is that characters does not seem real and believable, according to her writing rule number one is that create such characters which are free, they are independent to do whatever they want and her job is to record them not make them do whatever they do. Such a treatment she has done with her protagonist in Fairy tale who initially was a carefree lazy teenager then who as a Treasure seeker gets into his own epic Fairy tale where he experienced a series of adventures and eventually in the end he turns into a transformed person. However his all experiences and attitude, his whole character seems real and believable and never for a while it makes readers wonder something made up. The narration technique too along with the crafting of characters developed a sense of empathy towards him and we feel as if we are reading his mind and thoughts too.  In short Fairy Tale reading experience is a pleasure, filled  great excitement into the readers along with the adventures. You will love to make friends with protagonist of the novel and will love all his adventures :) It makes you realize that not all fairy tales ends in happily ever after marriages :)

Wishing you all Happy Blogging and Happy Readings:)

Essay on Emily Dickinson's Wild nights- Wild nights!

Wild nights- Wild nights!

Wild nights - Wild nights! (269) by Emily Dickinson
 Wild nights — Wild nights!
Were I with thee Wild nights should be
 Our luxury!

 Futile — the winds —
To a Heart in port —
 Done with the Compass —
 Done with the Chart!

 Rowing in Eden —
Ah — the Sea!
 Might I but moor —
 tonight —
 In thee!

Analysis:

Emily Dickinson a rebel, her work clearly depicts deliberate distancing of herself from the traditional form of poetry, either in the way of using elliptical language or pithy verses, or in the form of her deviation from the general rules of Punctuation or Capitalization; all confirms her stance as a nonconformist. Emily Dickson rather introduced a new trend to American Modern Poetry followed by numerous disciples popularly known as Dickinsonians poets. It would not be wrong if one  say Dickinson is a “precursor” of Imagism in American Poetry. (Munich, Bradshaw).

Dickinson’s poem Wild nights-Wild nights is a perfect example of diversions not only in Dickinson’s themes but also in also structure, rhetoric and form. An attempt to analyze this poem in detail would be a humble try. The very first line of the poem
“Wild nights-Wild nights!”

suggesting this poem as an erotic one about love, passion and desire; however, I interpret these wild nights in quite a different way as these are nights where the poet’s mind is engulfed with wild thoughts or rough poetic inspirations. The word “Wild” is capitalized so as to put more emphasis on the word “Wild” than on the word nights. Literal meaning of the world wild is untamed or uncivilized. As discussed before Emily Dickinson is averse of the conventional form of poetry be it subject, form or punctuation rules. Her views are anti conventional so “Wild nights” here refers to those nights where she gets wild with anti-conventional overflowing ideas which fuel her passion to write more poetry.

“Wild nights-Wild nights! / Were I with thee”

The word “thee” apparently refers to a lover whom Emily wishes to spend the night with; her companion. However, according in the context of my interpretation, “thee” here refers to the Poetry or the procedure of creating poetry. Emily Dickinson as it appears to me treating Poetry as her best companion to spend a passionate night with. “Luxury” by employing this word Emily emphasizes that it is not easily accessible to her. Another meaning of luxury is grandeur, so I think Emily here referring the night of wild inspirations where she is winged with “her wings of poesy” (ode to Nightingale, Keats) a luxury; a grand affair!

The tone in the second stanza changes with the imagery of port and winds. What I figure out from these Tlines is that Emily employed the word “Futile” for her poetry which is not very productive as the opposing “winds” are not letting her into the depth of sea and her “Heart in port”. Heart stands for the love and according to my interpretation it is referring for the poetry itself which is close to poet’s heart; it is her love. It is inferred that Poet is anxious about her poetic progress as she wishes to go against the tides and the winds into the depths of Poetry; however she is still stuck on the port, as the opposing winds are making all her attempts futile and meaningless. “the winds” what I deduce are the prevailing ideas, trends or conventions in the society to which Emily confronts. So these existing conventions and trends are what making Emily’s poetry “futile” and she finds her poetry stagnant, stuck in a port.

“Done with the Compass-/Done with the Chart”

These above lines reflect Emily’s determination that she is done with direction and the procedure. It means that Emily knows her direction and the way and she is all set for sailing into the deep sea of poetry.

In the final stanza Emily refers sailing in the deepest sea of Poetry as the most pleasurable experience, as if she is “Rowing in Eden”. Emily expresses her utter satisfaction by employing the word “ah” she is absolutely content in sailing in the sea of Poetry. Sea according to the interpretation I have drawn is the world of poetry. The last two lines are difficult to elucidate what I think is that Emily is asking  may I be part of you Poetry just like what sea is to moor for tonight, come and embrace me O Poetry.
